Kelly and her husband Rusty live in Mobile, Alabama. They have three children: Avery, married  to Zack last October are expecting their first child…Kelly’s first grandchild Luna Elise due in July,  Preston who married Brooke in May 2018, and  their youngest child Sophie.

Kelly has used the Talents Unlimited model her entire career as an educator for 26+ years. She used it as a classroom teacher for 21 years, as a trainer for 15 years, and has been the director for the past six years
This trip will be Kelly’s third trip to Cincinnati to train teachers from the Latin Patriarchate Schools and the Archdiocese of   Cincinnati. She has also had the distinct privilege of visiting the Holy Land, where she  led an initial TU training for teachers in Amman, Jordan in 2016.
This year’s training will focus on training teachers in the framework of Talents to help the LPS and AOC teachers  build lesson plans with their  partner teachers, which they will implement during the next school year. They will be digging  deeper into finding connections in their curriculum and culture to create a product that will guide the twinning relationship this year.
As a doctoral student, Kelly  has learned educational philosophies that have shaped her understanding of how students learn, as well as  how important building a culture for learning is to the retention of knowledge. While in the classroom, she has created relationships with her students innately, and  now has the research to support the importance of creating a climate for learning by giving students voice and choice,  and holding them responsible for their learning, so as to become productive members of society.
Kelly is looking forward to showing the  educators how Talents can be a catalyst for helping students from both countries realize their value, and tap into knowledge through metacognitive activities. She is  humbled to be part of HOPE’s vision for creating relationships through peace and considers it an honor to work with the AOC and LPS educators.
Kelly will be hosted by Dave and Nancy Hemminger of Milford. HOPE is looking forward to reconnecting with you, Kelly!
