Nancy, Little Nancy and Sr. Andrea
I never would have known about Marka if my husband and I had not hosted Fr. Faysal Hijazen, (General Director of Schools in Israel and Palestine) in 2015 with HOPE. Father told us that his brother, Shaher, was a parishioner at Our Lady Mother of the Church, where the Pastor, Fr. Khalil Jaar, was dedicated to helping Syrian and Iraqi refugees.
“Little Nancy” is an Iraqi refugee enrolled in the 7th grade at Our Lady Mother of the Church. She and her parents, grandparents and little sister fled from Baghdad when they were threatened by ISIS to convert to Islam, pay a ransom or be killed.
Below is a link to a video (recorded by Sister Andrea Koverman, SC) hearing first-hand a clear message of faith and forgiveness by “Little Nancy” age 12.

What an amazing girl to have endured so much, and yet her radiance and inner peace are so sincere. God bless “little Nancy” and God bless you, my dear Aunt Nancy.
So inspirational to hear these words of love and peace and to experience the joie de vivre of this remarkable child!
