During the LPS visit Jan McManus, a 2014 HOPE pilgrim and veteran teacher, presented different strategies she uses in the classroom to promote tolerance, build community, and help children resolve conflict.
She shared picture books that address many common issues such as name calling, anger management, bossiness, and gossip- just to name a few! She also showed how writing not as punishment but as self expression can lead to inner freedom as well as mutual understanding.
Jan shared with the group that viewing each child as a soul, a blessed sacrament rather than a problem to fix is something everyone agrees is essential to lasting healing.
Following Jan’s presentation the group joined Tim McManus in singing “Lead Me Lord” and “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace”.

Nancy,
Once again your energy and talents in serving the Lord through the HOPE project are simply amazing. I’ve watched this time through the Voices Messages and have continued my prayer for all. You are and know what it’s really all about.
Thanks, blessings, peace, love and prayers,
S. Kathryn Ann
